Quality Ratings
Ratings of health plan quality used in the Health Insurance Marketplace, shown as 1 to 5 stars on plan information pages.
• For the 2017 plan year, Virginia and Wisconsin presented health insurance quality ratings on HealthCare.gov.
• Results from this pilot will be used to improve the program in the future.
Each health plan has an “Overall” quality rating, which is based on scores for 3 elements:
• member experience
• medical care
• plan administration.
The plans provide information to the Marketplace. The Marketplace confirms the data and assigned the ratings.
In some cases — like when plans are new or have low enrollment — ratings aren’t available.
