Emergency Services

Emergency services refers to receiving care or evaluation for an emergency medical condition. Most commonly in a hospital emergency room setting.

♦ An emergency is a situation in which you could reasonably expect that the absence of immediate medical attention could result in serious jeopardy to your health, or if you are a pregnant woman, to the health of your unborn child.

Emergency medical treatment may be provided to keep the condition from getting worse.

Common situations:

• An injury

• A sudden illness

• An illness that quickly gets much worse
